An evening with The New Forest Ghosthunter- New Forest Folklore, Hauntings and Halloween!

 Hugh from Haunted New Forest will be joining us tonight, as we sink our teeth into spooks and thrills from the paranormal! From killed kings and ghostly monks to Florence Nightingale and dragons, The New Forest has plenty of supernatural stories and magical folklore. Hugh will take us on an immersive journey into the paranormal, covering the not so known (and sometimes bloody) history of The New Forest and the ghosts and legends that can be found along the way. This isn't any old ghost talk! There is the opportunity to get interactive with real authentic ghost hunting equipment in the Pour House! I wonder what we will be able to discover??!!

We are pleased to welcome back Mike Davies who will present a talk about the working men’s clubs of Britain.

 From their inception 160 years ago by two teetotal Reverends who borrowed 3 million pounds, to their boozy meteoric rise until themid-1970’s. How they became the cornerstone of the British working culture for socialising, cheap beer, chicken in the basket…..and much, much more.

 How the club committees could introduce you to the world of entertainment and politics if you needed an ‘in’, and the amazing story of Sheila Capstick, the woman who almost single handedly fought and won equal rights for women in the clubs…..it only took 29 years! And of course, the phenomenon that was written in stone in every club nationwide – Bingo.

The brand-new Bartlett de Choc store opens in Ringwood this September, and proprietor Tracy has kindly invited us for an exclusive behind-the-scenes experience.

She’ll share the story of how it all began, the inspiration behind her incredible chocolate creations, and tempt us with what delicious delights the new Ringwood store has to offer.

We’ll start our afternoon, as always, with lunch at The Pour House, before taking a short stroll to meet Tracy and step into chocolate heaven.

The Magic Behind the Smokey Eye

You will all remember, the lovely Sarah Parkinson came along before the summer to give us some tips on preparing our bodies for the summer. While we hope you have had a fabulous summer, we are now moving into the Autumn months and it's time for Sarah to come along again with some make-up advice as we approach the festive season and all those wonderful parties. From glowy skin to smokey eyes, Sarah will do a step by step tutorial, with pictures, in order to show us exactly what to do! I don't know about you, but as I mature (just like fine wine of course!) I find it harder to apply my make-up and achieve the look I want, so I am very much looking forward to Sarah's tips! Perfect timing with just a few weeks to go to our Christmas Party! Our raffle will be drawn before our talk and the winner will be lucky enough to have Sarah to demonstrate the techniques on!

The Christmas Party is for ladies from all of our clubs and their (female) guests (that’s Members and non-members alike).   We are so happy that we will be able to get together and celebrate the season – we always have such fun when we are together!
