'Son of a Spy'

Join us for a fascinating and thought-provoking talk with Mike Randall as he shares the extraordinary story of growing up as the son of a man he now believes may have been far more than just a diplomat.

Mike’s father was a soldier and prisoner of war during World War II before embarking on a diplomatic career that took the family to some of the most politically charged locations of the Cold War, including Moscow, East Berlin, Istanbul and Baghdad. Yet as Mike reflects on his childhood memories, unanswered questions begin to emerge. Why did his father so often work late into the night? Why did visa stamps in his diplomatic passport not match his official postings? And was he really working in diplomatic security — or was there something far more covert taking place behind the scenes?

Through personal memories, hidden clues and remarkable revelations, Mike pieces together a compelling story of espionage, secrecy and family life during one of the most tense periods of modern history. Sisterhood on a Tuk Tuk!

Tonight we're delighted to welcome Jo O’Connell, local travel expert and adventurer, to share an incredible story of her recent journey across India as part of the Sisterhood Rickshaw Challenge 2026.

Jo and her sister joined 33 other women on an unforgettable 1,200km coast-to-coast adventure, driving a tuk-tuk across India in support of education and community projects. From navigating chaotic roads packed with lorries, cows, monkeys and endless traffic, to battling exhaustion, dust, heat and the unexpected at every turn, this was no ordinary road trip!

Jo will share with us the highs, lows and hilarious moments of this once-in-a-lifetime challenge, sharing what it was really like to take on India’s roads in a tiny tuk-tuk with nothing but determination and sisterhood that carried the team all the way to the finish line.

Sound Bath

Note:  Time 12.30-2.30 pm

Join us at the Guide Hut for a relaxing sound bath with Kat, yoga, Ayurvedic and sound practitioner. Experience soothing gongs, singing bowls and percussion as you’re guided on a journey of deep relaxation and renewal.

Lie down or sit comfortably. Please bring a yoga mat (some available), a cushion and blanket.

No lunch will be provided today, but following the sound bath herbal teas, tea, coffee and cake/biscuits will be provided.

Staying Overnight?

If you'd like to stay overnight after the Christmas Party, rooms are available to book directly with The Green House Hotel. 01202 498900

As this is a boutique hotel, there are a limited number of rooms in each category, so bookings will be on a first come, first served basis.

Please quote "Live Laugh Love" when booking.

*Only the Large Double and Deluxe Double rooms can be configured as twin rooms.

All rates include breakfast and parking (parking is available on a first come, first served basis).

A card is required to secure the booking. Bookings can be cancelled up to 48 hours before arrival; however, any deposit paid is non-refundable.

If your preferred room type is unavailable, The Marsham Court Hotel, just a one-minute walk away, is currently advertising rates from £99 for single occupancy and £109 for two people sharing, including breakfast.

Free on-site parking is available, with additional on-road parking nearby.
