Ros Neimes will be joining us on this evening to share how she started producing a local Dorset Gin in her own kitchen. Fordington Gin is an excellent British Gin, created with a unique combination of carefully sourced botanicals, a gentle and distinctive creation. Fordington Gin uses juniper, star anise and lemon balm to create a subtle and original flavour. Fordington Gin’s story is rooted in botanical heritage and draws together a wealth of knowledge, experience and an intense curiosity for the unusual, resonating with the truly modern artisan company.
Ros Nelmes created the Gin and is passionate about her product and about her home in Dorset – ‘Dorset is peppered with some of the most exceptional food and drink producers in the country from its rolling green hills to its majestic coastline’. Ros has extensive knowledge of the world of gin, its history and the making of gin over the decades. Very different from Ros’s previous career and in her words ‘Having been a practising chiropractor for many years, I decided it was time for a change…. And what a refreshing change!’
Josh & Dan Benson are two Dorset brothers who run the oldest blueberry plantation in the UK, .they will be joining us on 2nd October to tell us the history of Trehane PYO Blueberries and their vision for the future. One part of this vision is to dig and farm a new cut-flower field. 30+ varieties of cut flower are being sown this spring to be grown, cut & sold on site every day through the summer.
Since January 2018 Josh & Dan have teamed up to bring it up to speed with the present day and add some new life and character to the space in order for it to thrive once more. Josh is the main man on the blueberry front and has been actively involved with all aspects of the business for 17 years and is ideally placed to continue the established growing philosophy while bringing exciting and new ideas to the party. Dan's expertise in horticulture and vision for fresh cut flowers makes the brothers a winning duo for us here in Dorset.
