Lyndon Wall – Artist and Caricaturist 

Lyndon Wall is a Dorset-based author, artist and caricaturist specialising in political and local interest cartoons. He is the cover cartoonist for the West Dorset Magazine, and draws for Dorset View and Viewpoint magazines, and for The Dorset Year Book. He has also drawn for Dorset Life and the New Blackmore Vale and New Stour & Avon magazines. 

In 2022 he was nominated for and won the Tenniel Cup in the national Political Cartoon of the Year Awards, competing against the likes of The Times and The Guardian. 

Commissions have included book covers and caricatures of MPs, including the Speaker of the House of Commons. 

His book Upsydown: Cartoons of Dorset Life was published by Amberley last year.

Tracie Williams – Civil Celebrant 

We welcome to our May Live Laugh Love Ladies Club event Tracie Williams, a professional Civil Celebrant who as a ceremonial speaker specializes in weddings, vow renewals, celebration of life, funerals, baby naming in fact any type of celebration! Tracie, who prides herself on creating ceremonies that are as unique as the individuals they are being held for and helps to make special days unforgettable. Tracie understands the importance of creating lasing memories and is humbled to be part of these special moments in people’s lives. 

We will hear about Tracie’s work as a celebrant and hear stories and anecdotes of the people that she has created that special event for.

Claire Myers – Pilates 

For our June Live Laugh Love Ladies Club event we welcome Claire Myers, who has been teaching Matwork Pilates for over 20 years (and before that dance).  Claire is very curious about everything to do with how the body (and mind) works...but her special interest is in functional movement...this is how we move in our everyday lives and get things done...things we need to do (shopping, working, sitting) and things we love to do (tennis, gardening, walking, playing with grandchildren).   Her focus in class is to be safe as we learn not just about the 'how' but the 'why' ...it is an exploration into our own bodies   Everything we do in class has to be relevant to our everyday lives as we work on strength and flexibility 

Claire is constantly updating her knowledge and re-training in subjects that are important to her LPP's * such as strength building, osteoporosis, safe spine, nervous system, foot health, balance and more...there is always more to learn! 

(*LPP's is the name she uses for her participants...Lovely Pilates People) 

Claire will be giving us a demonstration and informing us of the benefits of Pilates.

Dr Carole Deighton – Duopody Reflexologist – The Rooms, Poundbury 

We welcome Dr Carole Deighton to our August Live Laugh Love Ladies Club event.  Carole is a Duopody Reflexologist and holds a level 5 Diploma in Applied Reflexology for Integrated Medicine and is also a Chartered Applied Psychologist and draws on these skills to help her clients to develop ways to manage stress and improve their health and wellbeing. 

We will learn that reflexology is a wonderful relaxing technique, performed on the feet supporting the release of tension and pain, improving sleep quality and quality, rebalancing of mood, relaxation supporting the overall management of stress and well-being. 

Carole will be giving a 10–15-minute demonstration of a short foot reflexology and this will be the prize for the free raffle for one lucky lady!

A special event for the Live Laugh Love Ladies Club, Poundbury, Dorchester is an Afternoon Tea with a short talk and visit to the gardens at The Dovecote Cafe, The Walled Gardens at Moreton. 

Moreton, a village recently featured in the Dorset and Bournemouth Echos as among one of the best villages to visit in Dorset with 5 reasons to visit. This was the village that I spent my first 21 years before moving to Dorchester which The Walled Gardens were a former Nurseries. 

The afternoon will commence at 2.15pm with a short talk from Martin at 2.30pm, the Head Gardener and afternoon tea being served at 2.45pm. Afternoon tea will consist of a selection of finger sandwiches, small cakes and fruit or plain scones with Dorset clotted cream and fruit jam, and tea. Please advise of any dietary requirements when booking so that staff can be advised prior to the event. 

After taking afternoon tea, unless already done so, ladies will be able to visit the beautiful gardens of 5 acres of formal gardens with a variety of plant environments, stream-fed ponds and large lawn spaces styled on the original Georgian and subsequent Victorian designs with long borders, formal gardens, wetland features and woodland.   The admission fee has been included in the ticket price. 

As well ladies may wish to visit the resting place of T. E. Lawrence, otherwise known as Laurence of Arabia in the nearby cemetery annex of St Nicholas Church which is visited by admirers from all over the world. The Church of St Nicholas’ is also worth a visit to view the stained-glass windows designed by Sir Laurence Whistler. It is a short walk to the Moreton Ford which has a small pedestrian bridge that spans the Ford. The pathway forms part of the Lawrence of Arabia Walking Trail which takes in Bovington, Clouds Hill, Moreton Church, and Lawrence’s grave.

Lucy Tidbury was our brilliant and talented guest speaker for our February event who brought along her fabulous herd of artwork for gifts and home, and so we have invited her to come along to Crossroads and do one of her Workshops so that ladies will be able to create their own “Mini Moo” original Oil Painting! 

Workshops are open to all abilities and Lucy will guide you through step-by-step to create your own bespoke original. 

The Workshop will run for up to 4 hours and will include a tea or coffee and cake in the ticket price. Additional food and drink may be purchased. Please advise any dietary requirements.
