Dr Carole Deighton – Duopody Reflexologist – The Rooms, Poundbury
We welcome Dr Carole Deighton to our August Live Laugh Love Ladies Club event. Carole is a Duopody Reflexologist and holds a level 5 Diploma in Applied Reflexology for Integrated Medicine and is also a Chartered Applied Psychologist and draws on these skills to help her clients to develop ways to manage stress and improve their health and wellbeing.
We will learn that reflexology is a wonderful relaxing technique, performed on the feet supporting the release of tension and pain, improving sleep quality and quality, rebalancing of mood, relaxation supporting the overall management of stress and well-being.
Carole will be giving a 10–15-minute demonstration of a short foot reflexology and this will be the prize for the free raffle for one lucky lady! Carole will also be giving a guided hand reflexology session for the whole group to demonstrate how we can each use hand reflexology techniques on ourselves to support relaxation, aid digestion and sleep! As well as offering a special first "new client" discount for a reflexology appointment.

MIRANDA ROBERTSON – EDITOR OF THE WEST DORSET MAGAZINE
We welcome to our September Live Laugh Love Ladies Club event Miranda Robertson, Editor of the West Dorset Magazine, winner of the Hyperlocal Newspaper of the Year 2025. Miranda will talk about her career in journalism and the creation of the West Dorset Magazine. Miranda has worked for several local papers, including the Dorset Echo, Salisbury Journal and The New Blackmore Vale. Miranda is also a Director of Bird Media that is a group of creatives specializing in content, brand, marketing, and PR. She lives locally in the village of Maiden Newton.

MIKE RANDALL – CYPRUS ARCHAEOLOGY
We welcome back to Live Laugh Love Ladies Club Poundbury Dorchester Mike Randall, a volunteer from the town’s Shire Hall. With his wealth of history knowledge, he will be giving a talk on “Cyprus Archaeology.”
Cyprus is at the gateway of all ancient civilizations including Greek, Phoenician, Egyptian, Roman, Byzantine, Ottoman and British. It is rich in history and archaeology but so much more still lies undiscovered. See photos and images of archaeological excavations in Northern Cyprus and handle ancient artefacts and examine which are genuine and which are fake.
The place where the dig took place is called Lambousa (It means 'shining light' in Greek), and it is the place where the finest silver in the world was uncovered- 'David Plates'. Excavating has taken place there for decades (holiday times when Mike was a headteacher) and focused on early tombs. Digs have also taken place at Salamis, an ancient Greek city state that was founded by Teucer who fought with Odysseus at Troy which is an amazing site.

After a varied career focused on empowering women in different ways, Pauline trained with Colour Me Beautiful (the industry leaders) to offer a complete image service. She is passionate about the power of knowing you look the best version of yourself, not just for special occasions, but every day.
Coco Chanel said, ‘dress shabbily, they notice the dress; dress well, they notice the woman.’ Wearing clothes that harmonize with your appearance and personality allow focus on you as a person – the clothes enhance you. Dressing well does not mean expensively or fashionably but understanding the colours and styles that work for your appearance, shape, personality, and lifestyle.
Of these, colour makes the most powerful visual impact (whether that effect is negative or positive!) The bright colours near your face make you look energized and radiant, while the wrong shades leave you looking tired and drained. In this workshop you will learn:
- how and why tonal colour analysis works
- your own dominant colouring (each person will be able to try the drapes relating to their colour palette)
- how to put colours together to reflect your colouring and personality
- the make-up colours that work for you (and try out lipsticks in flattering shades)
You will take away a leaflet to remind you about your colouring, a lipstick, and a discount voucher for money off a full consultation for either colour or style.

Afternoon Tea will be taken in The Long Hall situated within The Coach House that is in the beautiful grounds of Athelhampton House and Gardens, a Tudor House which is a popular Dorset attraction. It was quoted by Sir Frederick Treves “that it was without question the most picturesque house in the county.”
Afternoon tea will consist of scones, with Dorset clotted cream and fruit jam, a selection of small cakes and a selection of finger sandwiches including tea or coffee. Please advise of any dietary requirements at the time of booking so that staff are aware before the event.
Also, included there will be a 30-minutes talk by Owen, the Houses’ Tour Guide on the History of Athelhampton House.
If you would like to visit the House and/or Gardens before the Afternoon Tea, there is an additional charge which has not been included in the event price ticket.
